Andy Greene
Guitar Instructor
Music and music education is in Andy Greene’s blood, literally. He is a third generation performer and music educator. His father, Ben Greene, has been very visible for years as the head of Concord High School’s Music Department.
Andy has played drums and percussion for ten years, guitar for six, and bass for three years. His multi-instrumental abilities have given him unique perspectives in many styles ranging from jazz, rock, funk and blues, to classical.
Andy has studied with many of the area’s local instructors, including Joe Gattuso, Roger Bergeron, Christopher Kane, and Dave Tonkin. He is currently studying composition with Steve Guerra, as well as being enrolled at U.N.H. studying music education. He is also the leader of his own Andy Greene Trio.

Ben Levergood
Guitar Instructor
Ben's musical career on guitar first began at age twelve when he heard a Stevie Ray Vaughan recording. After this epiphany he eagerly began seeking out other musicians to jam with and started playing gigs a few years later. Since then he has participated in many of the New Hampshire All-State music festivals and has studied music extensively through the years at both UNH and the Eastman School of Music. He has played saxophone and other woodwinds for eight years, piano and bass for two and has been teaching guitar for over five years. Having this knowledge of other instruments has also allowed him to explore many different musical styles. He strongly believes in being both a multi-faceted player and teacher and has delved into the styles of funk, jazz, rock, blues and classical. Ben has studied with many local instructors including Andy Greene, Joe Gattuso, Phil Sargent, Dave Tonkin, Christopher Kane, Bob Sneider, and is currently studying with Dave Newsam. He is currently enrolled at the University of New Hampshire studying Music Education.
Carleton Page
Guitar Instuctor
Carleton D. Page II has been a solid member of the New England Music scene since his early days of guitar 17 years ago. He entered the teaching field at Strings and Things several years ago and is much admired for his teaching skills. Carleton has taught students from 6 years old to 80 years young! He feels that it is critical to adapt to the learning style of each student. Carleton believes age isn’t a factor—there isn’t an age you can’t teach.
Carleton shares his love of the guitar on the local entertainment scene. He has played with many area bands including the former area favorite Lamont Smooth. While playing with “Smooth” he co-wrote two songs on their CD Body. He was the first lead guitarist for the Ron Noyes Band and can be heard on the popular CD Something Else. In a review of this CD in the September 2004 issue of Jam Magazine William A. Huffman wrote, “Page’s Work, in general, is something that in a casual listening could be overlooked because its placement is always perfect. He knows his place, and when he’s given freedom, his solos are wicked.” These groups have opened for acts such as Chris Duarte, Train, Gordon Stone and Percy Hill. Carleton currently can be heard playing the blues with an up and coming local band G C K.
Carleton enjoys combining blues, country, rock, bluegrass and older jazz style such as swing and western swing into his own playing. One of his specialties is Hybrid Picking (a technique using a combination of a guitar pick and fingers). Carleton doesn’t limit himself to simply guitars; he also plays and teaches banjo (3 Finger Style) and mandolin.
He has a deep affection for traditional American music and spends much of his free time learning fiddle tunes and bluegrass songs on the mandolin and banjo.
Carleton is currently accepting new guitar, banjo and mandolin students.

Anyone who has seen or heard Joe play can attest to his musical abilities and achievements as a 30 year veteran of the Boston and New England music scene. For those who have not, his resume speaks for itself.
Joe studied composition, music education, and guitar at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and went on to study with renowned jazz educator Charlie Banacos in 1988, and studies with him to this day. His respected presence in the music scene nation wide has afforded him the opportunity for live performances with the likes of George Garzone, Rebecca Paris, and countless others. His recording credits include work for WCVB, Boston, and appearences on T.N.N..
Joe is currently playing guitar with “Nightshift”, who were recently cited by VH1 as “Boston’s busiest band”, when he’s not busy fronting his own “Joe Gattuso Quartet”, and writing material for his third CD.

Phil Sargent
Guitar Instructor
Phil Sargent made his professional debut at age 14 and has since worked with a number of prominent musicians including John Lockwood, Bob Moses, Matt Wilson, Yosuke Inoue, Thomson Kneeland and others. He studied at the University of New Hampshire and has studied with critically acclaimed guitarists Ben Monder, and Brad Shepik. Phil leads his own group whose compositions draw from a variety of influences, most prominently the odd meters and eastern tonalities of ethnic Balkan music and modern jazz improvisation. Phil released his first recording (For Carl) with this group in April of 2002. In addition to writing for his own group he composes and is co leader for the genre bending groups Iskar and The Industrious Noise Trio. Phil also performs as a sideman in the Sonic Explorers, Zumbao Trio and a variety of other ensembles ranging from straight ahead jazz to the avante-garde.
Roger Bergeron

Roger has played in many small groups over the years, and for the past 21 years he has been with the Freeze Brothers Big Band of Concord, NH. A teacher of private guitar lessons for 30 years, Roger has spent 11 of them teaching here at Strings and Things. Roger earned his Master Instructor Certification from the U.S. Air Force, and took classical guitar lessons for two years from Elias Barreiro, an honor graduate of Segovia Master Classes. He enjoys teaching acoustic, classical, and electric guitar to beginning and intermediate students.

Ron Noyes
Radio listeners in over 11 countries have heard Ron Noyes’s name and his music since the release of “Mosaic”, his first CD, in 2002. The Ron Noyes Band was active in the New England music scene long before the disc’s release, and remains active still, with their second CD slated to be released this spring.
Ron graduated from John Stark Regional High School and went on to achieve his B. S. in marketing from Bridgewater State College. It has been our pleasure to have him as a part of our faculty for the past three and a half years.
